A new episode of Ian Failes’ Great Moments in Effects History, from befores & afters, looks back at how Captain America: The First Avenger pulled off the transformation. The team used body doubles and Lola VFX’s 2D compositing to turn a bulked-up Evans into the slight Steve Rogers audiences saw on screen.
It’s a great example of effects work that serves the character first.
