The studio behind the effects on Deadpool and Wolverine and Wicked is stepping behind the producer’s desk.
Spelling Communications client Lola VFX is producing its first feature, the supernatural horror film SIGIL, Reel 360 reports. The company is teaming with Cinemaways, Get It Made, and Concourse Media, which will also handle global sales.
The film stars Sierra McCormick, Francesca Xuerb, and Cailyn Rice, and it takes place entirely in one room. Three young women reunite to finish an occult ritual planned by their late friend, Sophie. As they follow her instructions, they realize they’re the final pieces of her deadly design.
CEO William Wright Anderson co-wrote the script with Katharine Meadows. Founder and VFX supervisor Edson Williams says the project lets Lola elevate performances and push the uncanny into the real world.
Anderson says making the film in Los Angeles lets the company hire local talent and support the community that built it.
